Common questions about working with a dedicated travel advisor.

FAQs

What services do you provide as a travel advisor?

I handle everything: destination research, accommodations, flights, dining reservations, excursions, and a fully personalized itinerary built around how you actually like to travel. I can be as involved or as hands-off as you'd like, some clients want every detail managed, others just want the big decisions handled and the rest left to them.

How do you personalize my travel itinerary?

Everything starts with a real conversation about your interests, your travel style, and what "worth it" looks like to you. From there, I build the itinerary around your answers, not a template. You'll have as many calls with me as you need along the way to feel completely comfortable with the plan.

Is there a minimum trip investment to work with you?

My clients typically invest at least $3,000 per person in their trip but can go much higher, though most invest considerably more. This isn't a strict cutoff, it's more a reflection of the kind of planning I do best: multi-day, detail-rich trips where real customization makes a meaningful difference. If you're not sure whether your trip fits, just ask.

Do you work with clients outside the U.S., or international travel only?

Yes, I work with clients across the country and plan trips to destinations worldwide. Wherever you're starting from and wherever you're headed, I can help. I currently have clients on 4 continents.

Do you charge a fee for your services?

Yes. I charge a planning fee rather than working solely on commission, which means I'm paid for my time and expertise, not for steering you toward a specific hotel or supplier. The fee reflects the complexity of your trip, whether that's a straightforward getaway or an intricate multigenerational itinerary spanning several destinations. I'll always discuss the specific fee with you upfront, before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

Why do you charge a fee instead of working only commission?

Because it changes who I work for. An advisor (or a "free advisor") paid only on commission is financially motivated to book you with certain hotels or cruise lines, whether or not that's actually the best fit. My fee means my only incentive is getting the trip right for you.

What do you specialize in?

My passion is custom luxury travel, particularly for multigenerational families making the most of their time and money together. I hold certifications as a Certified Travel Associate, ASTA Verified Travel Advisor, CLIA Certified Cruise Counselor, and IBCCES Certified Autism Travel Professional, and I bring firsthand travel experience from my own trips into how I plan yours.

Do you handle luxury travel like private planes, yachts, and golf trips?

Yes. I arrange private plane charters, yacht bookings, and customized golf vacations at world-class courses, with every detail tailored to how you actually want to travel.

Can you help with corporate travel, for groups or individual executives?

Yes, both. I plan corporate group trips like retreats, incentive travel, and conferences, and I also manage ongoing day-to-day travel for individual executives who want a dedicated advisor handling their bookings, not a booking site.

Can you help with last-minute travel bookings?

Yes. Planning further ahead gives us more options, but I can absolutely put together a well-organized trip on a shorter timeline.

How far in advance should I book?

For most trips, 6 to 12 months out gives the best access to availability and rates, especially for peak season travel, cruises, and Disney. For complex, multi-destination trips, earlier is better. That said, I'll always work with the timeline you actually have. Please remember that flights are only available 12 months out.

What if I need to make changes to my booking?

I don't charge a cancellation fee, though you may be subject to the booking terms of individual suppliers. I handle all modifications, cancellations, and updates directly, so you're never the one on hold with an airline.

I already have hotel points or airline status. Can you still help?

Yes. While I can't book you with those points we can work it into a trip. Let me know what you have, and I'll build your itinerary around using it wisely, whether that means applying points strategically or working within a specific loyalty program. The fee is significantly higher when points are used for airline and hotel bookings.

Do you offer assistance during the trip in case something goes wrong?

Yes. I'm available before, during, and after your trip to resolve issues quickly. I also strongly encourage travel insurance, and for certain destinations, I build in a local 24-hour support contact or fixer as an added layer of protection.

I've booked and I have a lot of questions. What do I do?

Once your trip is booked, you'll get access to a password-protected client area with answers to the questions that come up most: what to pack, how much cash to bring, stroller and equipment policies, and other trip-specific details.
